Legal & Disclaimers

Please read these disclosures carefully before using any calculator or content on Calcura.

1. General Financial Advice Disclaimer

Nothing on Calcura constitutes financial advice, financial planning, or any regulated financial service as defined under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act No. 37 of 2002 (FAIS Act).

Calcura is not a registered financial services provider (FSP) under the FAIS Act and does not hold an FSP licence. The calculators, guides, and content on this platform are provided for general informational and educational purposes only.

Always consult a registered financial adviser (CFP, authorised FSP) before making any financial decision, including taking on debt, purchasing insurance, making retirement contributions, or investing.

2. Calculation Accuracy

All calculations on Calcura are estimates based on the inputs you provide and standard mathematical formulas widely used in the South African financial industry. Results may differ — and in some cases materially differ — from figures provided by your bank, financial institution, or financial adviser.

Actual figures depend on your individual circumstances, credit profile, negotiated rates, your institution's specific fee structures, and factors Calcura does not have access to. Treat all results as estimates, not commitments.

3. Interest Rates and Regulatory Data

Interest rates, SARS tax brackets, NCA maximum fee limits, FLISP subsidy amounts, UIF caps, transfer duty brackets, and other regulatory figures displayed on Calcura are updated periodically by our team but may not reflect the most recent changes at the time you access the platform.

Always verify current figures with the relevant authority before acting on them:

  • Prime rate and repo rate: South African Reserve Bank (SARB) — sarb.co.za
  • SARS tax tables and transfer duty: South African Revenue Service — sars.gov.za
  • NCA fee limits: National Credit Regulator — ncr.org.za
  • FLISP: Department of Human Settlements — dhs.gov.za

4. No Guarantee of Credit Approval

Affordability estimates, bond qualification calculations, and credit capacity figures shown on Calcura do not constitute pre-approval, a credit offer, or any commitment by any financial institution to lend you money.

Credit approval depends on your full credit profile (as assessed by the credit bureaux), income verification, employment status, existing debt obligations, and the specific lending criteria of your chosen institution. A positive Calcura affordability result does not mean a bank will approve your application.

5. Third-Party Referral Disclosure

Calcura earns referral fees from financial product providers (banks, insurance companies, investment platforms) when users apply for a product through links on this platform. These referral relationships do not affect calculator accuracy, ranking, or content objectivity. Calcura does not adjust calculations or recommendations in favour of any partner.

Referral links are identified by disclosure text reading "Calcura is independent. We earn a referral fee only if you successfully apply." Where this text appears, a referral relationship exists.

6. Privacy and POPIA

Calcura processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act No. 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Calculator inputs — including salary figures, debt balances, and property values — are processed entirely in your browser. This data is not transmitted to Calcura's servers and is not stored unless you create a Calcura account and explicitly save a calculation.

Your data is never sold to third parties. If you apply for a financial product through a partner link, you will be subject to that partner's own privacy policy and data processing practices.

Data Retention

Calcura retains saved calculations and account data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, all personal data including saved calculations, email address, and login credentials are permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymous calculator usage (without an account) generates no data stored by Calcura — all inputs are processed in your browser only.

To request a copy of your data or to request deletion of your account and all associated data, use the account deletion option in your dashboard or contact us at privacy@calcura.co.za

Your POPIA Rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Object to the processing of your personal information
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator at www.inforegulator.org.za

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@calcura.co.za

7. Investment and Retirement Projections

Retirement simulations and investment projections on Calcura assume fixed annual rates of return specified by you as inputs. Actual investment returns vary year to year, can be negative in some years, and are not guaranteed by any party.

All projected figures — including projected retirement capital, monthly income generated, and retirement readiness scores — are illustrations only. They are not forecasts or guarantees of future performance. Past performance of any asset class is not a reliable indicator of future performance.

8. Tax Disclaimer

Tax calculations on Calcura use SARS-published tax tables and standard withholding rules as implemented by Calcura's team. Actual PAYE withholding is determined by your employer based on your specific IRP5 and personal circumstances.

Tax results are for illustrative purposes only. Consult a registered tax practitioner (as defined under the Tax Administration Act) for personalised tax advice, tax planning, or if you believe your PAYE is incorrect.

9. Jurisdiction

Calcura is designed for South African residents and is based on South African law, regulation, and market practice. Regulatory information — including SARS tax tables, NCA limits, SARB rates, and FLISP rules — is specific to South Africa and does not apply in other jurisdictions.

If you access Calcura from outside South Africa, the calculations and regulatory information may not be applicable to your situation.
